Horsetail (Shavegrass) Tea
Horsetail (also known as Shave Grass) is rich in minerals, especially silica, and antioxidant flavonoids. Silica is important for the strength of bones and connective tissues. Silica consumption supports strong nails, bone mineralisation and flexible joints.
Boil 2 - 4 teaspoons of herb per cup of water for 5 minutes. Steep for 10-15 minutes, strain and drink. Take two to three times daily.
Not recommended for pregnant and lactating women. The silica content is too high for the developing child both in and out of the womb. Excess use can irritate the kidneys and intestines and it is best taken in frequent small doses. Prolonged use is not recommended. Seek professionally health advice if suffering from a medical condition or taking medication before supplementing.
